Legal Venture Counsel, Inc. was founded by Jean L. Batman in 2004. Ms. Batman has more than 30 years of experience providing outside general counsel services, reviewing, drafting and advising on a broad spectrum of business, employment, real property, corporate, finance, and securities law transactions. In addition to being a licensed attorney, Ms. Batman has an MBA and was a licensed principal and partner in a securities Broker-Dealer firm, before completing law school at the University of California's Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco.
Ms. Batman is the author of the ABA best-seller, "Advising the Small Business," as well as the ABA books "Letters for Small Business Lawyers" and "Of Counsel," and numerous articles and other publications. Ms. Batman is a frequent public speaker at bar association and other continuing legal education programs, and served as an instructor at the U.S. Small Business Administration's Entrepreneur Center in San Francisco for more than 10 years, teaching a quarterly course on "Finding Venture Capital." Prior to founding Legal Venture Counsel, Ms. Batman was a partner in the San Francisco office of an Am Law 100 firm.

She served as Chair of the Middle Market and Small Business Committee of the ABA Business Law Section from 2001 to 2005, as a Board Member of the Publications Board of the ABA Business Law Section from 2001 to 2005, and was Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the Private Placement Broker-Dealer Task Force of the ABA Business Law Section in 1999. Ms Batman is a member of the American Bar Association and is licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of California. She is also an active member of the Rotary Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
